Hey Crafty Friends! Today I wanted to try rock painting, i’ve seen a lot about finding and hiding painted rocks over the last year or some but I’ve never tried it.

Honestly one of the reasons being that I am terrible at creating free hand art. So I found myself a rock, washed it, let it dry and painted it white.

TaDar! There you have it a painted iceberg!

No I am joking of course, I used the white surface to help my stamping and painting to pop. I decided to use this Lawn Fawn stamp set, Manatee-riffic and Archival ink.

As the surface of the rock is uneven I decided to ink up the stamp on my desk and then press the rock on top. I actually got a really good impression and was very please.

To colour the Manatee I created a soft grey my mixing black and white paint and simply filled in the stamped design.

For the details I used blue for the bubble and an acrylic dabber (using a brush) for the seaweed.

For the final detail I added the sentiment ‘Shell-ebrate’ and used a micron pen to add in any missed detail.

For anyone like me that likes the idea of painting and hiding rocks but has felt worried about creating the design free hand I hope this trick of stamping on your rocks helps you. Now I’m off to go hide this rock!
