Background Stamping + Emboss Resist

Welcome back crafters! This weeks Tuesday card making video is a little different, due to some computer issues I haven’t included a voice over and instead I’ve added some music to the video. I hopes you guys don’t mind, hey maybe you enjoy not having to listen to my rambling! (To skip straight to the video click here)

IMG_6937For todays card I have used the leaves background stamp that the nice folks over at Simon Says Stamp have released as part of STAMPtember. As soon as I saw this stamp I just knew I had to have it, it is a great background stamp for many techniques and I’m sure I will be  using this one lots over on my YouTube channel and maybe even on Periscope. If you haven’t downloaded periscope yet you are missing out but hey I can feel myself getting distracted.

On to the card. I used a patterned paper for my background stamping and I embossed the leaves design with clear ink. The clear embossing will resist the ink applied over the top and so by using the black soot distress ink I was able to turn the patterned paper black except for where the leaf pattern was embossed. I think this is a really great technique that you can use with many patterned papers and ink combinations.

IMG_6938To finish off this card I cut a simple blue circle frame and framed up a “Handmade with Love” button die cut. This made sure that the attention wasn’t taken away from the background and the embossed resist technique was the centre of attention.

Thank you for joining me and I hope to see you soon

  1. You just replied to a comment I made on Sandy Allnocks scope about being able to get craftaboard from Amazon UK but I went and couldn’t find it,! Ahhhhhhh any chance you could send me a link? I’m on facebook if you want to get hold of me there or if you can get hold of the email address I left when posting this comment.
